Biography

2017-18 (Redshirt Junior Year): Was named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll, recognizing student-athletes with a 3.0 grade point average or better … Had the best season of his collegiate career with the Panthers during the 2017-18 campaign … Played in 31 of FIU’s 32 games, getting the starting nod in 27 outings … Averaged a career-best 5.5 points-per-game and career-high 3.2 rebounds-per-outing … Was second on the team in field goal shooting, hitting 43.8 percent (71-for-162) from the floor, and led the team from the charity stripe, hitting 76.3 percent (29-for-38) of his offerings from the line … Shot better than 50 percent from the field in 12 games, and over 60 percent eight times … Netted double digits in six games for the Panthers, including four-straight contests from against South Alabama (12/2), at USF (12/11), at North Florida (12/13), and James Madison (12/16), averaging 14.5 points-per-game during the stretch … Recorded a career-high with 16 points against UNF, and then surpassed that mark against JMU in the next game with 17 points on his graduation day … During the final three games of the four-game stretch, Hussein shot 64.9 percent (24-for-37) from the field … Ultimately had a career-night at UTEP (1/13) establishing career highs of 19 points and nine rebounds against the Miners.   


2016-17 (Redshirt Sophomore Year): Enjoyed his first full season with FIU after playing in just 14 games his first two years due to injury … Saw time in 23 games, getting the start in one game – North Texas (2/11) … Played in just three of the first 11 games of the season, working his way back into the lineup, and then played in the final 20 games ... Averaged 3.3 points-per-game and 1.7 rebounds-per-outing … Shot 60.3 percent (35-of-58) from the field on the year … Scored a career-high 13 points on 5-of-8 (62.5 percent) shooting from the field – both career highs – and 3-of-4 (75.0 percent) from the free-throw line at UTEP (1/12), also a career-best … Grabbed six rebounds against the Miners, which was also a career-high … Fell just one-point shy of double digits in the scoring column with nine points against Florida Atlantic (1/26) and Rice (2/9) … Was 4-of-4 (100.0 percent) from the field and 1-of-2 (50.0 percent) from the charity stripe against both Owls’ teams … Had seven blocked shots on the year with two each coming at UTSA (1/14) and against North Texas (2/11) … His two blocks marked a career-high.


2015-16 (Sophomore Year): Played in just two games due to a broken left foot and season-ending surgery … Saw action in the first two games of the season against Trinity Baptist (11/13) and Florida Memorial (11/16) … Scored six points and grabbed four rebounds in 14 minutes against Trinity, on 3-of-3 (100.0 percent) shooting from the field, while logging three points and grabbing one board against FMU.
 
2014-15 (Freshman Year): Appeared in 12 games during his rookie season, making one start and missed the first 11 games due to injury ... Averaged 6.9 minutes-per-game and 2.4 points-per-game ... Closed the season scoring seven points on 3-for-3 shooting in nine minutes of action against UTEP (3/12) ... Set career-highs in points (8), field goals made (4) and rebounds (3) in 14 minutes of action at Marshall (2/26) ... Scored a then-career-high four points and was 2-for-2 from the charity stripe in the win at Southern Miss (2/12) ... Made his first career start versus UTEP (2/7) ... Scored two points and added a then-career-high two rebounds at ODU (1/29) … Tallied first career block at Middle Tennessee (1/8) ... Scored his first career points in the victory at Florida A&M (12/29).
