At Florida State (2006-07): Played in 13 games as a true freshman, including seven ACC regular-season games, an ACC Tournament game and two of Florida State’s three games of the 2007 NIT...scored nine total points and grabbed 10 rebounds over 54 minutes of playing time...scored his first career point on a free throw in FSU’s win over Miami (1/20/07)...scored two points and added an assist and a steal against Michigan in the second round of the NIT.
Prep and Personal: Attended Arlington Day School where he averaged 17.6 points, 9.6 assists and 3.2 steals in earning first-team all-state honors after the school’s second state championship in 2006...named the 2006 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Florida...selected the Class 2A Player of the Year by the Dairy Farmers in 2005...named the Player of the Year in the city of Jacksonville by the Florida Times Union in 2006...ranked as the nation’s No. 35 best high school prospect by Galaxy of Prep Stars Basketball Magazine and the 11th ranked high school point guard in the class of 2006 by Hoopmasters.com...as an amateur, played internationally for both Puerto Rico and the U.S...member of the Miami Tropics AAU team...also competed as a member of Puerto Rico’s under-18 team at the FIBA under-18 Championship in 2006...helped Puerto Rico qualify for the 2007 Junior World Championships...born February 12, 1988 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico...son of Maricarmen Martinez and Demetrio Soto...hospitality management major.
