Hunter Allen

Hunter Allen was named assistant coach for the softball team at FIU in September of 2019. He will be working with hitters and catchers. During his first season with the Panthers, FIU posted an 8-9 record as the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak. FIU picked up wins over Power Five foes California and Syracuse along with Ivy League Dartmouth.

Prior to FIU, Allen began his coaching career at Alabama State in 2018. He was a part of the staff that helped lead the Lady Hornets to the 2019 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) championship and the Tuscaloosa NCAA Regional.

He began coaching following a successful career as a catcher for the Hornet’s baseball program where he played under current FIU baseball coach Mervyl Melendez. Allen hit .297 as a senior and collected six home runs en route to a Second Team All-SWAC selection.

A native of Orange City, Florida, Allen graduated from Alabama State in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
