Biography

As a junior (2014) – A season-long offensive threat for FIU, she hit her first career grand slam against Maryland in the Panthers’ season opener… It was also the first home run of her career… Through the month of February, she recorded a hit in 12-straight games, the fifth longest hitting streak in program history… Made Panther history as she was one of three-straight FIU players to hit back-to-back-to-back home runs against North Texas with conference play coming to a close…  Had six multi-RBI games, including a career-high four RBI versus Maryland… Twice she tallied three RBI games (vs. Dartmouth and at Marshall)… Helped pace the offense, batting .322 over a span of 53 games, the second-highest average on the team… She also finished second in slugging (.557), on-base percentage (.407), RBI (34) and home runs (7)… Made the switch from the hot corner to short stop 20 games into the season and started 52 games

As a sophomore (2013) –  Started in all 53 games she played (shortstop, third base, first base, catcher)… Hit .215 (29-for-135) with nine RBI… One of four players to record a triple (3/6 against E. Michigan)… Finished fourth on the team with 24 runs scored… Led all Panthers with six hit-by-pitches… Swiped three bases in five attempts… Defensively, registered 203 putouts with 41 assists, while committing 11 errors (.957 fielding percentage)… Against Florida State in Tallahassee on 3/12, registered eight putouts and adding two assists… Best defensive performance came against at ULM on 3/6, recording 13 putouts… Finished tied for second on team with nine multi-hit games (all with two hits)… Her five-game hitting streak (2/17-23) was tied for second-longest among FIU hitters… In a doubleheader with E. Michigan on 3/6, went 4-for-6 (.666) with three runs scored and a triple… Drove in the game-winning runs against Hartford to preserve a 7-6 victory on 2/23.

As a freshman (2012, Phoenix College): Played in 73 games… Posted .410 average (100-for-244) with 19 home runs and 74 RBI…scored 73 runs… Collected 17 doubles and four triples… Stole 27 bases in 30 attempts… Drew nine walks… Registered .420 on-base percentage… Committed 19 errors (.929 fielding percentage)… Recorded 139 putouts and 98 assists.

Personal: Born March 9, 1993… Daughter of Anthony and Yolanda Garcia…has four siblings, Lexie, Brittany, Amber and Jazz… Enjoys writing, dancing, running, basketball and sand volleyball.
