2013 (Junior): Made three starts before his season came to an end due to injury.   

2012 (Sophomore): Finished the year with a 3-2 record and a team-high 3.13 ERA in 14 starts (15 appearances)… Won baseball’s Most Improved award… Ranked fifth in the conference in ERA and third in strikeouts… Primarily the Saturday Night starter, Ellis took over the Friday Night roll late in the season at FAU (May 18) and went 6.1 innings while giving up a run and striking out eight… Had a season-high 12 strikeouts against ULM (3/31)… Struck out a team-high 88 batters in 83.1 innings pitched… Had a .241 batting average against… Pitched into the seventh inning three times… Had six quality starts and only gave up more than three earned runs twice… During the year Ellis was faced with a bases loaded situation 10 times and did not allow a runner to score (3 K’s, 2 fly ball outs, 5 ground outs).   

2011 (Freshman): Started two games while appearing in a total of six before taking a leave of absence from the team… Had a 6.75 ERA in 12.0 innings pitched with seven strikeouts.

Prior to FIU: Drafted in the 35th round by the San Diego Padres in the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft... Played for Kerry Taylor at Fleetwood Park Secondary School in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada... Also played basketball and volleyball... Was the 2008 B.C. Pitcher of the Year and won the 2010 outstanding achievement PBL… Played for the Canadian U-18 team in the Fall of 2008 and 2010 as well as the Longley Blaze from 2007-10... Was also recruited by Kansas and Arizona... His high school mascot was a Dragon.

Personal: Born June 25, 1992 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada... Son of Randy and Lori Ellis... Enjoys lifting weights, volleyball and playing video games in his spare time... Aspires to play professional baseball after college... Majoring in business with a concentration in marketing.
