2007 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference/2006 First-Team NFCA All-Southeast Region

 

Junior (2006): Named First-Team NFCA All-Southeast Region selection, becoming just the second-ever Golden Panther to pick up first-team all-region honors... Also named First-Team All-Sun Belt for the second-straight season and was selected to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team after leading FIU to the championship game with two home runs in tournament play... Had team-highs of eight homers, 37 RBIs and a .298 batting average... Her eight home runs tied for second on FIU’s all-time single-season homer list... Three of her home runs were game-winning shots in the final inning of the games against Manhattan (6-4 win, 3/10), Maine (6-4 win, 3/17) and Illinois-Chicago (1-0 win, 3/18)...  Also hit the game-tying home run with the team down to its final out in the bottom of the seventh inning in a Sun Belt tournament elimination game win over Troy (5/6), which lifted FIU into the championship game... Named Sun Belt Player of the Week twice (3/21 and 5/1)... Had a seven-game hitting streak from March 12-18, which tied for the team’s second-longest of the season...  Was tops on the team with 13 multi-hit and 10 multiple-RBI games and has moved into second on FIU’s career triples (6) and RBIs (75) list.

 

Sophomore (2005): One of two Golden Panthers named First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference... Became just the third FIU softball player ever to garner ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III University Division Softball honors after being named to its Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)... Tied a school record with six-consecutive hits over the course of FIU’s series at North Texas (4/19-20), including a 3-RBI, 4-for-4 performance with a triple in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader... Nearly doubled her batting average from 2004 with a team-leading .281, and hit .417 in conference games to rank second in the Sun Belt... Tied for third in the conference in triples (3)... Led the team in doubles (13), which was the second-highest single-season total in program history... Enjoyed the team’s second-longest hitting streak of the year (eight games from April 20 ? May 1)... Tied for second on the team in RBIs (24), hits (48), slugging percentage (.444), multiple-hit games (12) and multiple-RBI games (4)... Moved from shortstop to third base during the off season and started in 59 of the team’s 62 games.

 

Freshman (2004): One of three Golden Panthers to play in every game, starting all 64 of the team’s games at shortstop... Drew the most walks (17), was third in stolen bases (8) and fourth in sacrifice bunts (5)... Was fifth on the team in runs scored (14) and RBIs (14), tied for second in triples (1) and fourth in home runs (1)... Posted three multi-RBI and multi-hit games... Had a season-long five-game hitting streak from March 9-13... Started streak with a two-RBI, two-run performance in an 11-3 victory over Rhode Island (3/19)... Went 1-for-3 with a two-run triple in a 6-4 win over Miami (Ohio) (3/12)... Followed that with a pair of two-hit games a day later against UMass and Miami (Ohio)... Hit first-career home run, a two-run shot to left field, in a 3-0 win over Kent State at the FAU Parents’ Weekend Tournament (3/20)... Hit safely in all four games in weekend series against North Texas (4/10-11)... Hit a two-out, RBI double off the right field wall to tie the score in the bottom of the fifth inning of FIU’s opening game of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament against Middle Tennessee (5/13).

 

Prior to FIU: 2003 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award nominee... Captain of Daviess County High School Panthers... Awarded Golden Glove and Best Bat awards senior year... Had a .586 batting average with eight home runs in one season... Named MVP of 2002 Lexington Catholic Invitational... Four-time academic all-state honoree... Played for Kentucky United travel team and was named the 2002 ASA state tournament MVP. 

 

Personal: Born September 21, 1984, in Elizabethtown , Ky... Daughter of Charlie and Travis Embry... Has one brother, Morgan (24), who played a year of  baseball at Kentucky (2001) and another at Kentucky Wesleyan (2003), and one sister, Hannah (19)... Majoring in chemistry.
