2015 – INDOOR (SENIOR)
Started in all 28 matches…led the team in block assists with 85 (0.94 blk/s) and was second in solo blocks and total blocks with 12 and 97 respectively…recorded her first 100-dig season (101)…posted 204 kills (1.98 k/s)…tied her career-high for kills with 16 at Middle Tennessee (10/25/15)…set a career-high four aces at Stetson (9/11/15)…recorded a career-high 10 digs and three solo blocks at FAU (10/23/15)…finished her indoor career with 776 kills and 320 total blocks…ranks 4th all-time in Panther’s history in block assists with 281 and T-9th in solo blocks with 39.
2014 – INDOOR (JUNIOR)
Played in all 30 matches, starting in 26 … led the team in total blocks with 98.0 (0.87 bps) and tied for the lead in service aces with 26 (0.23 sa/s) … was second on the 2014 squad with 242 kills (2.14 kps) … posted 80 digs (0.71 dps) and 22 assists (0.19 aps) … had a career-best three solo stops against Middle Tennessee (10/17), while tallying a career-high eight total blocks two days later against Southern Miss (10/19) … served a career-best three aces at North Texas (10/25) … tied a career-high 16 kills versus Rice (10/31) and tied a career-high seven digs at home against Louisiana Tech (11/16) … hit a season-best .533 (9K-1E/15TA) at UCF during the Radisson UCF Invitational named 2014-2015 C-USA Academic Honor Roll.
2013 – INDOOR (SOPHOMORE)
Saw action in 27 matches, while starting in 11 … fourth on the team in kills (159, 1.77 kps) … posted 62 digs (0.69 dps), 35 blocks (0.39 bps), 12 assists and two service aces in her sophomore season … contributed a career-best back-to-back 16 kills in the Conference USA Championships against Middle Tennessee (11/21/13) and Tulsa (11/22/13) … garnered a career-best seven digs on two occasions (last vs. Tulsa on 11/22/13) … tallied a career-high four assists versus Syracuse (9/21/13) … finished the season with four solo blocks, tying a career high … named 2013-14 C-USA Academic Honor Roll.
2012 – INDOOR (FRESHMAN)
One of two players to start all 30 matches for the Panthers … contributed 171 kills (1.63 kps), 90 blocks (0.86 bps), 71 digs, 13 service aces and seven assists in her first collegiate campaign … ranked second on the team in blocks … hit at a career-best clip of .700 at Florida A&M (9/1), converting eight kills against one error in 10 total attempts … posted a season-high 13 kills versus South Alabama (11/10), committing just one error in 25 attempts for an attack percentage of .480 … reached career highs in total blocks (7) and block assists (7) against then-No. 19 WKU (10/26) … tallied her first-career solo block at USF (9/16), going on to finish the season with four solo stops… registered a pair of service aces at ULM (10/21) to mark a then-career high.
PRIOR TO FIU
Has played volleyball since fifth grade and played softball for two years at the Caribbean School in Ponce, Puerto Rico … earned multiple MVP honors for volleyball … tabbed 2010 Athlete of the Year … a member of the Puerto Rican National Team … led her club team, Levoc, to the Costa Caribe Volleyball Tournament title … also competed with the VB Rags club, guiding that squad to a Jeep National Volleyball Championship … earned All-Star recognition in the Power League Championships … a member of the National Honor Society … Also recruited by LSU, Duke and Florida Gulf Coast.
PERSONAL
Born June 15, 1994 … daughter of Belen Hernandez and the late Pablo Castro … has one younger sister, Paola … enjoys horseback riding, going to the beach and spending time with friends and family … plans to major in biology … aspires to attend med school and play professional volleyball.
