Biography

2008-09 (Junior): Made significant strides in her junior campaign finishing with a 12-8 dual singles record and a 14-7 dual doubles mark...Won of all her singles matches at the No.6 position...Compiled an eight match consecutive win streak from 3/2-3/28...Posted a 10-2 singles record at home in the spring...Defeated Bhavani Tirumurti of Denver in the Sun Belt Conference Championship en route to FIU's fourth championship...Ended the season with a 13-3 doubles record with partner Liset Brito, including wins over Monica Winkel and Sharon Makhanya of ULM in the first round of the SBC Championship followed by a second round victory over Erica Krisan and Katie Welch of South Alabama...named to SBC Academic Honor Roll.

2007-08 (Sophomore): Finished the spring campaign with an dual  record of 5-6, going 4-3 at the No. 6 position...Opened the spring with four-straight singles wins at the 2007 Florida Gulf Coast/Johan Kriek Classic...Picked up all-important singles wins against ranked opponents Arizona (38), Texas A&M (34) and Louisiana-Lafayette (71)...Helped FIU to a 4-3 upset win over No. 32 Texas A&M by defeating Marissa Druss, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 at No. 6...Closed out the year with a 3-2 mark in doubles play with partner Maria Pazo...That duo collected wins against No. 49-ranked South Alabama and versus North Texas in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships...Completed an outstanding fall campaign going 4-2 in singles play at Gators Fall Classic, the Wilson/ITA Southern Regional Championship and the Seminole Invitational...Reached the bracket doubles finals of the 2007 Seminole Invitational with teammate Maria Spenceley.

2006-07 (Freshman): Saw limited action in spring singles, after an impressive fall season...won four-of-five dual matches played...After losing her first intercollegiate match against Danon Beatty from No. 18 Fresno State, reeled off four-straight wins, picking up her first career win against East Tennessee State's Vita Moskaliova in straight sets...Also recorded victories against opponents from Miami (Ohio), Boston University and Stetson...Won Flight 7 singles at the FIU Spring Invitational, defeating Auburn's Heather Bybee and posted a straight-set win against South Florida's Ashley Schumacher to earn FIU's only individual crown at the event, which featured fifth-ranked Miami, No. 33 South Florida and No. 75 Auburn.

Prior to FIU: A top Argentinean junior player who was nationally ranked as high as No. 4 in the under-16 and under-18 divisions...Reached the finals of the Vendimia Cup in both 2003 and '04...Competed in five WTA tournaments in 2004-05, and won the qualifying round and reached the quarterfinals of the main draw in Tucumán, Paraguay (2005).

Personal: Majoring in nutrition...Member of the 2007 and '08 Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll...Daughter of Oscar Alfredo Vallasciani and Francia Silvia Cafasso.
