    Student Manager

Felix Gonzalez joined the FIU Swimming & Diving staff as a Student Manager in Fall 2025, allowing him to remain closely connected to a sport that has played a major role in his life.

Gonzalez began swimming at the age of four, training at the club level in San Juan, Puerto Rico, before continuing his development in South Florida with South Florida Aquatic Club. He specialized in distance freestyle events, primarily the 500-yard and 1650-yard freestyle. During his club career, he qualified for Southern Zone Sectionals with standard times in the 1500-meter and 400-meter freestyle, while also achieving qualifying standards in the 800-meter freestyle and 400-meter individual medley.

A four-year varsity swimmer, Gonzalez competed at the FHSAA State Championships each season and served as team captain during his junior and senior years. In 2023, he was a State Championship finalist in the 500-yard freestyle. Internationally, he was a registered athlete with La Federación Venezolana de Deportes Acuáticos and ranked among the top five junior distance swimmers (ages 13+) in his age group.

Following his high school career, Gonzalez stepped away from competition and transitioned into a support role with the FIU program. He is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering and plans to apply engineering principles within the medical field in the future.
