Jimmy Fleming joined the FIU compliance office in January 2017 as the Compliance Coordinator and was promoted to Director of Compliance in August 2021.
In his new role, Fleming will oversee all eligibility operations of the compliance office. He will also serve as the compliance office’s point of contact for admissions for prospective student-athletes and Name, Image, and Likeness disclosures for current student-athletes.
As coordinator Fleming oversaw the tracking of all recruiting activities, team travel, monitoring of awards and benefits, and agent registration. Additionally, Fleming was tasked with developing and implementing the institution’s Time Management Plan.
Fleming came to FIU by way of WKU. While in Bowling Green, Fleming helped update policies and procedures pertaining to official visits, created a monthly rules education newsletter that is sent to coaches and administrators via email and Twitter, gained experience using Jumpforward software to input transcript evaluations on high school and preparatory school prospects, as well as compiled start-of-year forms from student-athletes.
Prior to his time at WKU, Fleming volunteered in the compliance offices of Bradley University, where he maintained the school’s IRL and admissions spreadsheet and completed initial academic reviews of prospective student athletes; and the University of Illinois where he served as a Grant-in-Aid Volunteer verifying outside scholarships and processed scholarship renewals and non-renewals.
Fleming graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports communication from Bradley University in 2015 and master's degree in Recreation and Sport Management from FIU in 2020.
Jimmy and his wife, Faith, reside in Miami with their Beagles, Ozzie and Shelby.
