Jonathan is entering his third year as the primary media contact for FIU’s nationally ranked men’s soccer, 8-time CUSA Champion swimming & diving, and baseball programs for the 2025-26 season.
Mayer was instrumental in the 2025 FIU Baseball campaign, promoting five All-Conference USA selections and coordinating draft coverage for pitchers Easton Marks and Owen Puk, both selected in the 2025 MLB Draft. Additionally, he helped orchestrate the social media rollout of the FIU Baseball “VICE” uniforms, which generated over 900,000 impressions across platforms.
He has contributed to coverage of the men's soccer 2024 American Soccer Championship match appearance and helped promote Michael Appiah, who was selected in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. Additionally, In his inaugural season as the men’s soccer media contact in 2023, Mayer played a pivotal role in promoting Eduardo Mustre, who earned First Team All-AAC honors and was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Team. FIU ended the season with ten wins and an NCAA tournament victory over Mercer in the first round.
During the 2023-2024 season, Mayer managed the promotional and branding initiatives for the swimming & diving team, which secured the 2024 AAC Championship. Under his oversight, the team was led by Christie Chue, the 2024 AAC Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet, Coach Randy Horner, who was named AAC Coach of the Year, and Josh Larcom, who was recognized as the AAC Co-Diving Coach of the Year.
Mayer facilitated the promotion of FIU swimmers Nicole Frank and Oumy Diop, both Olympians representing their respective countries at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. His efforts included orchestrating media coverage across NBC6 Miami, the Miami Herald, NCAA.org, WLRN, and FIU News.
Currently, Mayer is a graduate at Florida International University with his degree in digital broadcasting.
