Lauren DeTurk is entering her first season as head coach of the FIU Beach Volleyball team.
Lauren DeTurk joins FIU following a standout tenure as head coach at NAIA’s Saint Katherine (2020–24), where she led the Firebirds to national prominence before the university's closure in 2024. Under her leadership, USK won two California Pacific Conference (CPC) titles (2021, 2024), achieved a top-10 national ranking three consecutive seasons, and made its first-ever NAIA National Tournament appearance in 2024, finishing No. 6 in the final rankings.
A California native, DeTurk coached multiple all-conference and national award winners, including two CPC Players of the Year, one Pair of the Year, and two NAIA All-Americans. She was named CPC Coach of the Year in 2021.
Before USK, DeTurk was an assistant coach at UMass Lowell (2014–18), helping guide the program's transition to Division I and raising the team GPA to 3.49. Her coaching career began in 2011 as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Northeastern, where she starred as an indoor volleyball player and javelin thrower. She finished second all-time in kills (1,330) and was a CAA Player of the Year and All-East Region honoree.
DeTurk also brings professional playing experience, having competed internationally in Switzerland and on the AVP and NVL beach circuits. Known for emphasizing both athletic and academic success, she coached multiple academic honorees, including an NAIA Academic All-American.
