Velez serves as a Professional Accountant II in Athletic Business Operations. Velez joined FIU in April of 2011 as an Accountant I with the Controller's Office under the Cash Management team. In December of 2014, he was promoted by the Athletics Department as an Accounting Coordinator and later re-classed to a Professional Accountant II.
Prior to FIU, Velez worked at Miami Dade Finance from 2006-11, where he was responsible for assisting in creating new queries and reports for the controller.
A native of Miami, Velez graduated from Florida Memorial University in 2007 with a business degree.Â
