FIU Athletics

Shirley Caballero was named Assistant Director for the Student-Athlete Academic Center at FIU in June 2015. Caballero currently works with men’s basketball. Before coming to the SAAC, Shirley worked at the Academic Advising Center, Undergraduate Education, at FIU. She started her advising career as a Senior Academic Advisor from 2011 to 2013. Caballero then worked her way up to Manager of Academic Advising Services and served in that role supervising a team of advisors and overseeing several projects.

Caballero earned her undergraduate degree from Florida International University in Anthropology and Sociology with a minor in Religious Studies and her masters in Higher Education Administration from the University of Connecticut.  During 2009, Caballero was awarded the Modesto Maidique President’s Award from the Center for Leadership.

A native of Miami, Florida, Caballero enjoys hanging out with family and friends, going to the beach, or catching a good movie at the theater.
