Final Box Score
MIAMI - Lauren Schwindt scored the lone goal of the game at 27:38 to lead visiting Louisiana-Lafayette to a 1-0 victory over Florida International University in Sun Belt Conference women's soccer action Sunday afternoon.
Lindsay Webb sent a free kick into the box from 35 yards out as Schwindt ran onto the ball and found space amongst the FIU defenders to strike the ball into the net, giving the Ragin' Cajuns (5-7-1, 1-1 SBC) the 1-0 lead.
The Golden Panthers (1-10-0, 0-4 SBC) put the Louisiana-Lafayette defense under a lot of pressure but were unable to find a way to score. Janet Ligouri came close to opening the scoring for FIU at 13:01 only to have her shot strike the bottom of the left post. Tamara Kochen also had Louisiana-Lafayette goalkeeper Liza Preseault beaten, but her effort at 36:31 hit the crossbar.
FIU outshot the Ragin' Cajuns 9-5 for the game.
The Golden Panthers will host Bucknell in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. Bucknell scored twice in the final moments of the match to down South Alabama, 3-2, in a game played at FIU earlier in the day.
