Final Box Score
MIAMI - The Florida International University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with Bucknell on Tuesday afternoon at University Park. FIU's Tamara Kochen fed a touch pass to teammate Melanie Delehanty, who evened the score at the 44th minute, leading the Golden Panthers to the draw.
In the mid-week tilt, it was a contest where the defense for both teams was forced to rise to the occasion. With the tie, FIU improves to 1-10-1 and Bucknell stands at 7-3-2. In the tie, FIU's Annelie Lindborg recorded three shots to pace the offense and goalkeeper Juliana Gomez made seven saves against 16 Bucknell shots.
After the Bison had unleashed eight shots against the FIU defense, BU freshman Shannon Curd got a shot past the Golden Panthers' defense to break the scoreless tie. The FIU defense continued to strengthen and sparked the offensive side of the field.
The two teams each had opportunities for the remainder of the contest; however, none were successful. The contest was ruled a tie after 90 minutes due to pre-arranged travel plans by Bucknell.
Up next for the Golden Panthers is a contest against South Florida in Tampa at 6 p.m. on Friday.
