MIAMI - An own goal by the Golden Panthers in the 21st minute gave Sun Belt Conference leader North Texas a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon in Denton, Texas.

FIU ends the regular season with an overall 6-10 record and 4-4 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. North Texas raises its record to 13-5-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the conference. The two teams looked for offensive opportunities throughout the contest; however, it was the defense that rose to the occasion.

The two teams combined to post 13 shots in the opening half with host North Texas holding a 7-6 advantage. In the second half, the offenses were limited as the two teams posted four shots - just one by FIU.

Both teams will advance into this week's Aeropostale Sun Belt Conference Tournament, hosted by FIU. The Golden Panthers will play in the 4 p.m. tilt in Wednesday's opening day of action. The pairings and the seedings for the tournament will be announced later today.
