Golden Panthers dropped a heart-breaking
1-0 decision to North Texas in Saturday's
Sun Belt Conference Championship game.
The loss ends the season for the Golden
Panthers, who finish the season with
a 7-12-1 mark.

Carrier headed in the championship shot
with eight seconds remaining to lift the
No. 2 seed Mean Green to a 1-0 win over
No. 4 seed Florida International at the
2004 Aeropostale Sun Belt Conference Women’s
Soccer Championship Saturday at FIU’s
University Park.
The senior scored off a direct kick from
Andrea Marak as NT (16-5-1) won its first-ever
Sun Belt tournament title. The loss ends
the season for the Golden Panthers, who
finish the season with a 7-12-1 mark.
It was a physical match that saw 37 fouls
and 13 saves between goalkeepers Brianna
Buchanan (North Texas) and Madeline Gannon
(FIU).
Both teams had its respective scoring chances,
but in the end it was Carrier, the Tournament
Most Outstanding Player, who got the only
score.
Despite the loss, the Golden Panthers landed
three players on the all-tournament team
including junior forward Janet Ligouri,
junior midfielder Janessa Taddei and sophomore
midfielder Valerie Patrick.
