BOCA RATON - The FIU women’s soccer
team lost to FAU on Tuesday night, 2-0.
With the loss, FIU falls to 2-6 on the season;
meanwhile, the Owls improve to 4-3-2 with
the win.
Following a scoreless opening half, FAU’s
Christie Ashton header in the 46th minute
following a free kick was the difference in
the contest. Ashton paced a FAU attack that
outshot FIU, 17-2, with a team-high four shots.
The Owls added to their lead, capitalizing
on another free kick when Denise Brolly scored
on a rebound off the cross bar in the 85th
minute.
Despite allowing a pair of goals, FIU freshman
Madeline Gannon goalkeeper made six saves
in the loss. FAU’s Megan Coyne picked
up the shutout; in addition to two saves.
