Women?s Soccer Drops Fourth Straight After Loss to Denver

DENVER ? The Florida International University women's soccer team dropped its fourth consecutive match, falling to hosts Denver, 5-0, in Sun Belt Conference action Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Panthers fall to 2-8 on the year and 0-4 in Sun Belt play while the Pioneers improve to 8-2-1 and 4-0-0 in league play.

Junior goalkeeper Madeline Gannon (Ft. Myers, Fla.) made a career-high 15 saves for FIU, including one on a Jessica Keller penalty kick in the 51st minute.  It was the second missed spot kick in as many chances for an FIU opponent this season.  Gannon's previous career-high was 10 saves against Mount St. Mary's (Md.) just two weeks ago.

Five different players scored for Denver, including Lizzy Carlson who also added an assist.  The Pioneers have outscored their opponents 15-1 in the last three matches.  The Golden Panthers, meanwhile, have been outscored 10-1 on this two-game road trip.

FIU will look to turn things around next weekend when they travel to Louisiana for matches against Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
