Jonesboro, Ark. ? Freshman Camilla Durrant (Loughborough, England) scored a pair of unassisted goals as Florida International defeated Arkansas State, 2-0, in Sun Belt Conference women's soccer action Friday evening in Jonesboro, Ark.
The victory moves the Golden Panthers to 5-10 on the season and 3-6 in Sun Belt play, which gives FIU sole possession of the eighth and final conference tournament bid with two matches remaining. FIU's next opponent, Arkansas-Little Rock, is one game back of the Golden Panthers. The teams will face one another Sunday at 1 p.m.
The multi-goal game was Durrant's second of the season, both within the past three matches. The forward now has team-highs of six goals and 13 points in just six matches played this season.
Durrant scored her first in the 11th minute, and then scored in the 64th minute. She finished with a game-high eight shots. Junior Madeline Gannon (Ft. Myers, Fla.) collected a game-high seven saves for FIU.
Both shots and corner kicks were fairly even for the match. The Golden Panthers took advantage of a 12-11 difference in shots and a 5-4 edge in corners.
