Women?s Soccer Falls at Louisiana-Lafayette, 3-1

Lafayette, La. ? A pair of first-half goals scored 30 seconds apart proved enough for Louisiana-Lafayette as Florida International fell, 3-1, to the Ragin' Cajuns in Sun Belt Conference women's soccer action Sunday afternoon in Lafayette, La.

Dannae DeVahl scored off an assist from Taylor Zac in the 24th minute, and was followed by an unassisted Callie Oliver strike just 30 seconds later as Louisiana-Lafayette (7-5-2, 4-2-0 Sun Belt) jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the halftime break.

Taunya Geelhoed added a third for the Ragin' Cajuns on a free kick in the 64th minute, before junior Kristin Hurst (Miami, Fla./Felix Varela) put the Golden Panthers (3-9-0, 1-5-0 Sun Belt) on the board in the 85th minute off an assist from freshman Camilla Durrant (Loughborough, England).  The goal was Hurst's first of the season and second of her career.

Junior Madeline Gannon (Ft. Myers, Fla.) made a game-high four saves in goal for FIU while Stephanie Weston and Kristen Malen made one save each for Louisiana-Lafayette.

Durrant led all players with five shots in the match as the Golden Panthers out-shot their opponents 14-10.  The Ragin' Cajuns enjoyed a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

FIU returns home for Sun Belt contests against Troy and South Alabama this Friday and Sunday, respectively.
