The FIU men's soccer team lost 4-1 Sunday afternoon to the Owls of Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton.
The Owls (8-7-2) wasted no time jumping on the Golden Panthers (2-12-2; 2-5-0 C-USA) as Gianni Piccoletti scored on a header just 23 seconds into the contest.
The Golden Panthers would equalize in the 15th minute as Bruno Barbosa (Miami, Fla.) took a pass from Steven Jair Cabas (Miami, Fla.) and pounded it in for his first score of the season.
The score would remain the same going into the half.
The Owls came out firing in the second period as they out-shot the Golden Panthers 9-1 in the second stanza.
Piccoletti would strike again to break the tie in the 55th minute, again on a header, with his fourth goal of the season.
FAU would add two more, one in the 68th minute and one in the 80th to make the final score 4-1.
The Golden Panthers will face another non-conference opponent, Florida Gulf Coast, this Wednesday night at University Park. It will be Senior Night for the Golden Panthers as they will honor departing seniors Edgard Correa, Raoul Voss, Ainsley Deer, Mario Franca and Richard Martinez.
