Men's Soccer Closes Out Regular Season At Memphis

The FIU men's soccer team travels to Tennessee this weekend as they close out the 2007 regular season with a Conference USA tilt against Memphis.

The Golden Panthers (3-12-2; 2-5-0 C-USA) are coming off a 2-0 victory over Florida Gulf Coast University this past Wednesday at University Park. Sophomore forward Christian Caporaletti (Miami, Fla.) did all the scoring for the Golden Panthers who picked up their first non-conference victory of the year.

The Tigers dropped a 1-0 decision to C-USA leading Southern Methodist University in their last match. Memphis has been led this year by Jared Britcher with five goals and five assists.

Last season, FIU defeated Memphis 2-0 at University Park.

In 2007, sophomore forward Juan Guerra (Caracas, Venezuela) has led the Golden Panthers with 11 points on five goals and one assist. Local freshman Steven Jair Cabas (Miami, Fla.) has added three goals and three assists.

Even though their record isn't where they would like it to be, FIU's season is nowhere near over. After their match with Memphis, the Golden Panthers will travel to Birmingham, Ala. for the C-USA Championship Tournament.
