Women's Soccer Battles to Scoreless Draw

FIU's women's soccer team battled to a scoreless tie at FAU, Friday night in Boca Raton.

 

"It was a very hard-fought game," said Head Coach Thomas Chestnutt. "Despite the conditions, it was a good game and we're looking forward to the tournament."

 

Despite being outshot ____, FIU freshman goalkeeper Melanie Raimo (Tampa, Fla.) made six saves to keep the game at 0-0. "It's good to get another shutout," said Raimo. "It was a hard-fought battle and we hung in there and came away with the tie."

 

 

Claudia Cardenas (Visalia, Calif.) and Marina Pappas (Lancaster, Pa.) each finished the game with two shots on goal for the Golden Panthers.

 

"We ended our season on a good note," said Kassandra Sorzano (Miami, Fla.). "We fought hard and hopefully we come away with a good seed for the tournament."

 

Both teams have already qualified for the Sun Belt Conference which starts Wednesday in Denton, Texas.
