Despite a late
game-tying goal by Marcos Balladares,
the Golden Panthers (0-4-1) weren't able to hold off the Bulls of South Florida
as they fell 2-1 Saturday night in Tampa.
The Bulls
(2-1-1) took an early lead when Jordan Seabrook scored in the 27th
minute to give USF a 1-0 lead.
The score
remained the same for the next 54 minutes as both teams failed to score again
until the 81st minute of play when Balladares scored his first goal
as a Golden Panthers to tie the score with just nine minutes to play.
However, the
score wouldn't be tied for long as Yohance Marshall gave the Bulls a 2-1 lead
just three minutes later.
Despite being
out-shot 11-8, the Golden Panthers finished the match with 7-4 edge in
shots-on-goal. For the first time this season, Juan Guerra wasn't the only FIU player creating scoring
opportunities. Balladares, along with Steven
Jair Cabas and William Thompson led
the Golden Panthers with two shots-on-goal each.
FIU returns to
action on Friday, September 19 as they will look for their first victory of the
season when they host Fairfield at 7 p.m.
