FIU Falls at No. 4 FSU

#4 Florida State 5, FIU 0

The FIU women's soccer team fell to No. 4 Florida State, 5-0, Friday night in Tallahassee.

"The have done an incredible job at FSU and really deserve their current ranking," said head coach Thomas Chestnutt. "They are good both individually and as a group."

FIU was able to avoid multiple early scoring chances by the Seminoles (4-0), including a penalty kick, but eventually gave up the go-ahead goal to Lauren Switzer in the 30th minute. FSU would tally another goal by Rachel Lim in the 35th minute to give themselves a 2-0 halftime lead.

The Seminoles would tally three early second half goals to take command of the game and drop the Golden Panthers to 0-4 on the season.

"As a competitor, it hurts to lose to anybody by this scoreline but they've done this to three quality opponents before us this season," said Chestnutt. "We just have to get prepared and come out with some good intensity for UNF on Sunday."

FIU goalkeeper Melanie Raimo (Tampa, Fla.) tallied seven saves in the loss to the Seminoles who coming into the game had defeated three Top-30 opponents by a total of 12-1.

The Golden Panthers will be back in action to face North Florida in Jacksonville, Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
