MIAMI (March 26, 2010) --- The FIU women's tennis team (10-7) fell to the No. 25-ranked DePaul Blue Demons (11-3), 4-2, on Friday, March 26 at the FIU Tennis Courts.
DePaul took the doubles point to start the match as the duo of Anna Redesci and Selma Salkovic (No. 13) defeated the team of Liset Brito and Priscilla Castillo (8-1), and Kirsten Gambrell/Gia McKnight downed the doubles team of Christine Seredni and Maria Jose Vallasciani (9-8 [7-1]). FIU's team of Maria Delores Pazo and Mariana Muci Torres defeated Sandra Zmak and Katarina Milinkovic (9-8 [10-8]).
The Golden Panthers (No. 42) won two singles matches while the Blue Demons recorded three singles victories. Brito (No. 84) cruised past Redecsi (No. 120) (6-1, 6-1) while Vallasciani defeated Gambrell (6-2, 6-3). Serdeni fell to Salkovic (6-3, 6-2), Castillo was defeated by Milinkovic (6-0, 6-0) and Holt suffered a 6-2, 6-4 loss to McKnight.
The loss was only the second of the season at home for the Golden Panthers.
The Golden Panthers host Brown in the team's final home match of the season on Monday, March 29. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. ET.
