MIAMI (Sept. 16, 2011) – The FIU women's soccer team dropped its third-consecutive match, falling to Oregon State University by a 7-0 margin on Friday night in the OSU Nike Invitational. The Panthers fall to 2-5-0 on the season as Chelsea Buckland's hat trick helped the Beavers improve to 5-2-1.
The match was scoreless for the first 21 minutes until Oregon State netted three goals within eight minutes. Buckland started the scoring with a goal in the 22nd minute, followed by Jacy Drobney in the 27th minute. Buckland struck again just three minutes later to give the Beavers a 3-0 lead into the half.
Oregon State did not let up in the second stanza, finding the back of the net in the 57th minute on a header by Brandi Dawson. Jenna Richardson and Melinda Ingalls joined in on the scoring in the 68th and 80th minute, respectively. Buckland put home the seventh goal with just two minutes remaining to complete the hat trick.
