Panthers Poised for SBC Championship Run

• FIU won its final two regular season Sun Belt Conference matches to earn the final spot in the  2012 SBC Volleyball Championship. The eighth-seeded Panthers (10-18) will face the top-seeded WKU Hilltoppers (29-3) in opening-round action on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m. ET.

• The 2012 Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship is slated for Nov. 15-17, at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Ky. All matches will be streamed for free at SunBeltSports.org, and the championship match will available nationally on ESPN3.

•  The Panthers will look for their second SBC Tournament title in 2012, having previously won the event in 2001. 

• FIU has reached the SBC Championship finals on two occasions (2006, 2009), and the Panthers have made an appearance in the tournament semifinals in six-consecutive seasons.

• Senior Marija Prsa leads the FIU offense with 360 kills (3.60 kps), a mark which ranks fourth in the Sun Belt Conference.

• FIU earned its first Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week nod on Nov. 12, as senior Ryanne Milligan won SBC Defensive Player fo the Week honors.

• Thursday's first-round SBC Championship matchup with WKU marks FIU's third contest against the nationally-ranked Hilltoppers this season. The Panthers dropped a 3-0 decision at WKU on Oct. 12, before falling to the Hilltoppers, 3-1, on Oct. 26, in Miami. Prior to FIU winning set two in the last meeting between the two squads, WKU had not lost a set in 11-straight matches.
