MIAMI, FLA. (FIUSports.com) - FIU freshman Meghan MacLaren (Cambridge, U.K.) is on top of the leaderboard at the 2012 Wolverine Invitational after two rounds of play. In her debut event for the Panthers, MacLaren leads the pack with a six-over, 148 (74-74), heading into Sunday's final round.

With her effort, FIU is within reach of the team lead at the Wolverine Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan, at the U-M Golf Course in Ann Arbor, with a combined 49-over (617) to place second to the host-school. Michigan leads its own tournament with a team-total 616 and are 48-over. FIU was down by three strokes after the first round, but scored a team-low 306 in the second round.

Also scoring one of the top finishes in the tournament after two rounds of play is FIU junior Shelby Coyle (Pembroke Pines), who is three strokes behind MacLaren, tying for fourth with a nine-over, 151.

Senior Yolecci Jimenez (Caracas, Venezuela) moved up the leaderboard from 24th to 17th after the second round with a 16-over, 158. She scored a 78 in the second round after hitting an 80 in first round action.

Freshman Sophie Godley (Whitwell, Nottinghamshire, U.K.) is tied for 21st with an 18-over (81-79, 160), followed by senior Tania Tare (Auckland, New Zealand), tied for 27th at 19-over (82-79, 161). Freshman Carla Jane (Santiago, Chile) is tied for 40th at 23-over.
