Box Score COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 29, 2012) – The FIU men's soccer (6-1-2) team started Conference USA action with a 1-1 draw with the South Carolina Gamecocks Saturday evening in Columbia, S.C.
After a defensive battle in the first half, the Gamecocks struck first in the 74th minute off a corner kick. The Panthers responded with the equalizer in the 87th minutes when
Daniel Gonzalez took a free kick from 40 yards out that found
Quentin Albrecht for the header in front of the goal. The goal was Albrecht's team-leading seventh goal of the season. The assist was the third of the season for Gonzalez.
The Panthers will continue Conference USA action and travel to Orlando, Fla. to take on the UCF Knights on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
