FINAL RESULTS
MIAMI, FLA. (FIUSports.com) – FIU freshman Coralia Arias (Quito, Ecuador) had a second straight impressive day at the Old Waverly Invitational shooting three-under (69) in the final round to land sixth in the individual standings and lead the Panthers to a fourth-place finish overall.
Arias, playing in just her third collegiate tournament, began the tournament with a 74 on Monday, then went one-under (71) in yesterday's second round prior to her impressive 69 in today's final round. She finished two-under (214) over the three days and 54 holes.
As a team, FIU had their best outing of the three rounds scoring a 293 over the final 18. The Panthers were 20-over (294-297-293-884) for the tournament.
Host Mississippi State won the event scoring 20-under-par (281-288-275-844). The Bulldogs were followed by East Carolina at one-over (289-290-286-865) and Georgia State at 12-over (293-298-285-876).
MSU's Ally McDonald edged teammate Jessica Peng by one stroke for the individual title at nine-under.
Right behind Arias in the individual standings is senior Shelby Coyle (Pembroke Pines, Florida), tied for 12th with a three-over (71-75-73-219). Sophomore Meghan MacLaren (Cambridge, United Kingdom) was just one stroke behind in a tie for 17th at four-over (74-73-73-220).
Sophomore Sophie Godley (Notinghamshire, United Kingdom) was tied for 41st at 15-over (75-78-78-231). Sophomore Carla Jane (Santiago, Chile) rounded out the FIU starters, tied for 52nd at 24-over (76-83-81-240).
Up next for the Panthers will be its own 36th Annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational, Oct. 20-22, at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club near Sarasota.
