Freshman Coralia Arias Wins Title at FIU Pat Bradley Invitational

Final Tournament Scoring

Updated Tournament Records

MIAMI, FLA. (FIUSports.com) – FIU freshman Coralia Arias (Quito, Ecuador) shot a three-under (69) in the final round to surge ahead of the competition and win the individual title the 36th Annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational at six-under-par (69-72-69-210).

FIU's third consecutive individual champion and 13th overall, Arias finished the event with the third-lowest score in tournament history. Overall, the Panthers finished in third-place at 12-over (287-298-291-876), narrowly behind team champion Missouri (+9, 873) and Daytona State (+10, 874).

Arias began the day tied for third at three-under and battled with several challengers for the individual title. She edged Daytona State's So Young Hwang (-5), who finished in second, but started the final round in first place.

Despite finishing in third with an 876 team score, the effort was still the fourth-best team score in the 36 seasons hosting the event. Missouri and Daytona State's team scores were the second and third lowest all-time. Furman's 870 scored in 2009 still stands as the event record.  In 2012, FIU won the team title with an 876 team score.

Following Arias in the standings was sophomore Sophie Godley (Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom), who finished in sixth-place at two-under (70-74-70-214). Fellow sophomore Meghan MacLaren (Cambridge, United Kingdom) landed in a tie for 28th at nine-over (71-78-76-225). Senior Shelby Coyle (Pembroke Pines, Florida) continued to move up in the standings to finish in 34th at 11-over (77-74-76-227), after placing in 43rd and 37th over the first two days.

Playing in the individual bracket, sophomore Jasmine Wade (Oldsmar, Florida) and freshman Lesley Atkins (Harwick, Scotland) both tied for 46th at 14-over. Sophomore Carla Jane, as the No. 5 starter, came in 61st at 18-over.

The event was played for the second year on the par 72, 6,275-yard Cypress Links course at the beautiful Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club near Sarasota. FIU will next take to the course during the spring semester on Jan. 27, 2014, at the Florida Challenge, held at the Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto.
