FIU-EAST CAROLINA: THE FIRST MEETING

For the fourth straight week, Saturday's Conference USA game against East Carolina will mark the first meeting between the two schools. Similar to several other games this season, the game also features two programs that were participant to the latest round of conference realignment with ECU moving to the American Athletic Conference in 2014. FIU is in its first C-USA season after completing eight seasons in the Sun Belt.

FIU enters the East Carolina game coming off a 23-7 C-USA home loss to visiting Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs tied an FIU opponent record with five field goals made, while the FIU defense stood solid throughout the game. The last time an opponent was held to just one offensive touchdown was 23 games ago.

Coming out of their second and final bye week, East Carolina leads the C-USA East Division at 5-2 overall and 3-1 in league play. They last defeated Southern Miss, 55-14, in Greenville, N.C., on Oct. 19.

The East Carolina game also concludes FIU's three-game home-stand with the Panthers hosting just one more game at Alfonso Field at FIU Stadium against Marshall on Saturday, Nov. 23. Three of the next four games come on the road.
