@FIUFootball Travels to UTEP for C-USA West Division Showdown

Miami, Fla. (FIUSports.com) – FIU will have its longest road trip of the 2013 season this weekend as its faces to Conference USA West Division foe UTEP on Saturday, Nov. 16, in El Paso, Texas. Kick-off with the Miners is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET from the historic Sun Bowl Stadium.

FIU fans can watch the game live by signing up for the Conference USA Digital Network. In addition to this weekend's UTEP football game, other sports throughout the year, including men's and women's basketball, can be found online on the C-USA Network. Click HERE for more information.

Following the UTEP game, the Panthers will get to spend the final two weeks of the 2013 season in South Florida as they host Marshall on Senior Night, Nov. 23, then caravan 60 miles north to Florida Atlantic, Nov. 29.

FIU has not played in Texas since facing Texas A&M and North Texas during the 2010 season. FIU has participated in seven all-time games in the Lone Star State, the third-most of any state outside Florida. Going along with playing in a new league, the UTEP game marks the last of the five 'first-time' opponents the Panthers will have played in 2013. The Miners are the 53rd all-time team FIU has played since starting football in 2002.

Friday morning's flight, Ft. Lauderdale to El Paso, will mark FIU's longest air travel since Oct. 29, 2004, when it traveled to play New Mexico State in Las Cruces (1,670 miles). El Paso International Airport is 40 miles nearer, 1,630 miles.
