MIAMI (Feb. 22, 2013) – The FIU women's tennis team (0-6) fell to the No. 27-ranked Florida State Seminoles, 4-1, on Friday morning at the FIU Tennis Courts.

The match marked the second-straight contest versus a ranked opponent as the Panthers have faced a team in the ITA rankings in four of the last five outings.

The Seminoles (7-1) took a 1-0 lead, winning the doubles point. FSU's Mia Vriens and Amy Sargeant defeated senior Magali Holt and freshman Lotte Gras, 8-1, and the duo of senior Rita Maisak and freshman Aleksandra Trifunovic lost to Daneika Borthwick and Kerrie Cartwright, 8-5.

The Panthers got on the board as Vriens withdrew from the contest forcing FSU to play with just five in singles play. However, Florida State picked up three-straight singles points to clinch the match, 4-1. Junior Giulietta Boha fell to Cartwright, 6-2, 6-1, followed by a 6-4, 6-2 loss for Trifunovic to Sargeant. The match ended with a 6-4, 6-3 win for Francesca Segarelli (No. 91) over Maisak.

FIU will next host the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Sunday, Feb. 24, at the FIU Tennis Courts. The match is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET.
