Box Score MIAMI (May 8, 2013) – The FIU baseball team (23-26) dropped its ninth-straight game on Wednesday night to the Jacksonville Dolphins, 12-0. The Dolphins used a three-run first and second inning to build a quick 6-0 advantage and never looked back. The Panthers allowed 10 base runners via the walk or hit by pitch.
Senior second baseman T.J. Shantz led the way for FIU with two hits in the loss. The Panthers collected just six hits while surrendering 14 to the Dolphins. Jacksonville used five pitchers in the midweek contest.
Following its 6-0 lead through two innings, Jacksonville plated another in the fourth and two in the fifth thanks to a two-run home run from Brady North. The Dolphins led 9-0 at that point and tacked on two more runs in the seventh and one in the ninth.
FIU makes its final Sun Belt road trip of the regular season beginning Friday, when it faces the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans. Friday's contest is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET. Saturday will be a 5 p.m. first pitch and the concluding game will be Sunday at noon.
