Box Score Troy, Ala. (May 9, 2013) – The Panthers' (27-28, 10-15 SBC) 2013 season came to a conclusion on Thursday afternoon following a 14-9 loss to Troy in the second round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
FIU put three runs on the board in the opening inning. After the first two batters reached base and moved over on a sacrifice bunt,
Aleima Lopez drove in the first run on an RBI groundout to first base.
Shelby Graves followed with a single through the right side to put FIU up, 2-0. The third run came on an RBI double by
Kayla Burri.
Troy responded in the bottom of the first with a grand slam by Keelie Housley, giving them the 4-3 advantage.
The Panthers battled back in the second following a three-run blast to left center by
Amber Curry, placing the tally at 6-4.
The Trojans' second grand slam in as many innings, this time off the bat of Hannah Renn, gave Troy the lead for good at 8-6.
The deficit for FIU increased to seven runs after four innings.
The Panthers scored three runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Graves (6-4) took the loss, her second in the tournament, after coming on in relief for
Corinne Jenkins, who recorded just one out in the first inning.
