@FIUMensSoccer Drops 4-2 Decision to Princeton

Box Score PRINCETON, N.J. (Sept. 27, 2013) – The FIU men's soccer team (3-5-0, 0-1-0) fell to the Princeton Tigers on Friday night at Roberts Stadium. The Panthers will next take on Penn this Sunday at 12 p.m.

Princeton's Cameron Porter and Thomas Sanner each had big nights for the Tigers. Porter had six points on the night, coming on two goals and two assists. Sanner also netted two goals in the victory. Junior Roberto Alterio and freshman Luis Betancur each netted goals for the Panthers.

In the 22nd minute, Porter scored to give the Tigers a 1-0 advantage. Despite being outscored 1-0 in the first half, the Panthers out-shot Princeton 11-3.The Tigers then came out in the second half and scored two goals in the first seven minutes, both coming from Sanner. In the 71st minute, Porter scored an unassisted goal to give Princeton a 4-0 lead.

Betancur and Alterio cut the lead in half, scoring goals in the 87th and 89th minute, respectively. Betancur's goal was assisted by freshman Nicholas Midttun while Alterio's goal was a header off an assist from junior Quentin Albrecht.  

Following Sunday's contest at Penn, the Panthers return home to face Marshall on Oct. 6 in C-USA action. FIU will then hit the road for two contests at New Mexico (Oct. 12) and UAB (Oct. 16).
