FIU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Junior Josh Anderson reached first on an error and Sweety made it to first on a bunt hit with two outs. Freshman Gunnar McNeill drove in Anderson to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Gomez delivered a two-run single to cap off the three-run inning for FIU.

In the top of the third, junior Aramis Garcia led off with a double to left field. Anderson reached on another error to move Garcia to third, which was followed by an RBI single from Rios to put FIU up 4-0.

FIU added single runs in the fifth and seventh inning to extend its lead to 6-0.
