Last Time Out
Senior striker Quentin Albrecht lifted FIU (2-3-1) over 25th-ranked San Diego State on Friday night, netting the game-winning goal in overtime. Albrecht's goal was a bicycle kick, his second goal of the game, as FIU rallied from a 1-0 deficit.
With FIU trailing 1-0 in the 84th minute, Albrecht knotted the game up at one with his second goal of the season on a beautiful pass into the box from senior Roberto Alterio. With Albrecht making a straight-run into the box, Alterio played a ball forward to the Germany native, who headed it in to finally give FIU a score it deserved, as the Panthers outshot the Aztecs 25-14 on the night, with 11 shots on goal.

Scouting FGCU
The Eagles come to Miami with a 1-3-3 overall record and a 0-2-0 record on the road. FGCU is most recently coming off a 0-0 draw to Brown on Sept. 20. Since their season opening 2-0 win on Aug. 29, the Eagles have been winless in their last six matches. Felipe DeSousa is the squad's leading scorer, netting two of FGCU's three goals on the season.

All-Time vs. the Eagles
In front of a large crowd, FIU squeaked out a 4-3 victory over the Eagles last year in Fort Myers. Roberto Alterio netted two goals for the Panthers, giving him four on the season. The Venezuela native provided great offensive pressure all night for the Panthers, leading the way with six shots, four of them on goal. Albrecht and sophomore Daniel Gonzalez added the other two goals for FIU.

First Win Over a Ranked Opponent in Three Years
FIU downed No. 19 Michigan, 1-0, on Aug. 29. The win over the Wolverines gave FIU its first win over a ranked opponent since Oct. 2, 2011 vs. No. 21 Kentucky, 1-0.

New Man in Charge
Head Coach Scott Calabrese comes to FIU after a successful six-year stint as head coach at East Tennessee State. A program that began play in 2008, Calabrese led ETSU to two Atlantic Sun Tournament Championships (2010, 2013), a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, and four consecutive seasons of 10-or-more wins (2010-13). This past season, the Buccaneers were crowned 2013 Atlantic Sun Champions after earning a 3-1 victory over North Florida in the A-Sun Tournament Championship.

Panthers Return Nearly 82 Percent of 2013 Scoring
In total, FIU scored 27 goals last season. Of those goals that were scored last year, 22 of those goals are from players that are returning to this year's squad (81.5 percent). That ranks 10th in the country.
