Panthers Set to Take on the Thundering Herd on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. ET

- The FIU volleyball team (3-11, 0-1 C-USA) looks to bounce back from its seven-match losing streak as it hits the road for its first conference road trip of the season. The Panthers will head to Huntington, W.V., to take on the Marshall Thundering Herd on Sunday, Sept. 28. First serve is set for 1 p.m. ET from the Cam Henderson Center.

FIU enters the match against Marshall after having a week off. Entering Sunday's match, the Panthers are an impressive defensive team as they are sixth in Conference USA in blocks (2.13 bps) and seventh in digs (15.12 dps).
 
Leading the offensive attack for the Panthers is junior Lucia Castro, who leads the team and ranks ninth in C-USA with 163 kills (3.13 kps). Castro also leads FIU on the back row posting 163 digs (3.13 dps). Sophomore setter Anabela Satric is eighth in the conference and with 8.42 assists-per-set.
 
Marshall enters the match ranking second in C-USA and is 7-9, 2-0 C-USA, following a hard-fought 3-2 win at home against Middle Tennessee on Friday night. The Thundering Herd average 11.8 kills-per-set, but only post a .150 hitting percentage. Defensively, Marshall averages 14.43 digs-per-set and 2.11 blocks-per-set.

Leading the way for the Herd's balanced offensive attack is Cassie Weaver with 2.69 kills-per-set. Marshall has three additional players who average 2.00-kills-per-set or more as Ally Kiekover has 2.49 kills-per-set, Lauren Legge has 2.21 kills-per-set and Elyse Panick adds 2.03 kills-per-set. Weaver is second on the team with 2.90 digs-per-set, trailing Allie Kellerman's team-high 3.54 digs-per-set, a mark that ranks ninth in the conference.
 
Sunday's match will mark only the second meeting all-time between the two schools with Marshall holding a 1-0 advantage. This will be the first time the two teams will meet in Huntington, W.V.
