@FIUWSoccer Take on WKU and Marshall for a Pair of C-USA Matches this Weekend

MIAMI (Oct. 15, 2015) – The FIU Women's Soccer team (8-7, 4-2 in C-USA) head to Bowling Green, Ky. this Friday to take on WKU at 7 p.m. The Panthers will finish off the weekend in Huntington, W.Va., as they compete against Marshall at 1 p.m.
 
Last time out: FIU won two-straight matches last weekend against Southern Miss and LA Tech, placing them in fourth in the Conference USA standings. Friday evening, the Panthers dominated the Golden Eagles offensively, out-shooting USM 17-6 (five of FIU's shots being on goal). Junior Talia McMurtrie, assisted by freshman Lyrik Fryer, scored the lone goal of the match to conclude the game, 1-0. Sunday's match versus LA Tech followed a similar path with the Panthers out-shooting the Lady Techsters, 17-3 (seven of FIU's shots being on goal). FIU held up a powerful defense only allowing LA Tech one shot on goal. McMurtrie registered her second goal of the weekend to place the Panthers in the lead, 1-0. Ellen Crist secured the victory in the 83rd minute and set the final score at 2-0.
 
Scouting the Lady Toppers: WKU (6-4-4, 2-2-2 C-USA) tied with UAB last Sunday, on the road. UAB found the back of the net early in the game. WKU scored the equalizer in the first minute of the second half setting the score at 1-1. Neither teams could find the scoreboard for the remainder of the game to set the final score at 1-1.
 
Scouting the Thundering Herd: Marshall (10-2-3, 3-1-2) defeated Middle Tennessee (3-2) last Sunday. Marshall put up two goals in the first half, while MT trailed with only one. Both teams scored in the second half, but MT failed to match Marshall with another goal, setting the final score at 3-2.
