MIAMI (Oct. 29, 2015) – The FIU women's soccer team (8-10, 4-5 in C-USA) head to Charlotte, N.C., this Friday, to take on the 49ers (6-11-1, 2-6-1 C-USA). The match is set for 7 p.m.
Last time out: The FIU women's soccer team were shut out by Florida Atlantic last Sunday, 2-0. The match saw its first goal by the Owls' senior Claire Emslie in the 18th minute. Emslie bent the ball from a free kick off a penalty to take the lead 1-0. Entering the second half, in the 51st minute, FAU sophomore Maddie Pung registered her first goal of the season with a header off a corner from Emslie to give the Owls some insurance. Unable to find the back of the net, the Panthers fell, 2-0.
Scouting the 49ers: The Charlotte 49ers found themselves all knotted up against the UTSA roadrunners Sunday afternoon. Junior Rebecca Beatty drove home when she received a pass from Martha Thomas near the top of the box and slotted it behind Roadrunners' goalkeeper Isabella Sanchez in the 30th minute. The tying goal, in the 85th minute, came when Harper Luczka tapped it in past netminder, Annika McHenry, setting the final score at 1-1.
