@FIUWSoccer Falls to North Texas, 1-0

Box Score Denton, Texas (Oct. 4) – The FIU Women's Soccer (6-7, C-USA 2-2) fell to North Texas, 1-0, at the Mean Green Soccer Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The loss marked the second-straight conference loss for the Panthers – both coming on the road.

The first 45 minutes saw a defensive battle as neither team was able to find the back of the net. The Mean Green held an 11-5 edge in shots during the first half as both squads went into the locker room knotted at 0-0.

Defense dominated much of the second half until North Texas broke the draw.

After 73 minutes of silence, the Mean Green's Rachel Holden scored the first goal of the game off an FIU clearance. The goal was the sixth of the year for Holden.

FIU pushed the tempo, trying to even the score late in the match, however was unable to get on the scoreboard, falling to the Mean Green, 1-0.  

For the game, North Texas out-shot FIU, 16-8 and held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Sophomore Nevena Stojakovic suffered the loss making four saves on the afternoon.

Seven Panthers got into the action taking at least shot, including Taylor Coffee who posted two strikes on net.

The Panthers return home to take on Southern Miss, this Friday, Oct. 9. Game time is set for 7 p.m. from the FIU Soccer stadium.
