Box Score MIAMI (Oct. 9, 2015) – The FIU women's soccer team (7-7, 3-2 in C-USA) defeated Southern Miss, 1-0, on Friday evening.
With the win, the Panthers registered their third C-USA win for the season and snapped a two-game losing skid in league action.
The FIU Soccer Stadium saw little action the first half of the match. The Panthers out-shot the Golden Eagles, 10-3, but both teams failed to get on the scoreboard.
The Panthers brought the heat in the second half with a goal by
Talia McMurtrie in the 47
th minute.
Lyrik Fryer placed a perfect ball right outside the box for McMurtrie to register her first goal of the season and take the lead, 1-0.
FIU push the tempo in the second half and continued to out-shoot Southern Miss, 7-3, to set the night's total shots at 17-6.
The Panthers return to action this Sunday as they host LA Tech. First touch will be at 1 p.m.
