@FIUVolleyball Travels for Regular Season Finale; LA Tech on Thursday, Charlotte on Saturday

MIAMI (November 10, 2015) – Coming off a tough weekend, the FIU volleyball team (13-12, 7-7 in C-USA) hits the road for its final two matches of the regular season. The Panthers will take on the Lady Techsters of LA Tech on Thursday and the 49ers of Charlotte on Saturday to close out the year.

Last time out: Last Sunday, the Panthers hosted North Texas on their Senior Day. FIU fell to the Mean Green, 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 15-25, 23-25), in a tightly-contested matchup. The Panthers were led by their three senior Lucia Castro, Gloria Levorin, and Adriana McLamb. Castro finished the night with 16 kills and 15 digs for her 13th double-double of the season. Castro also reached a milestone of 1000-career digs in the match. Levorin posted 15 kills, one shy of her career record. Defensively, McLamb led the Panthers with 17 digs.

Scouting LA Tech: The Lady Techsters (10-18, 3-11 in C-USA) are coming off a 3-0 loss to UTEP (a team which FIU swept in early October). LA Tech is No.  11 in the C-USA standings and have already been eliminated from postseason contention. The Panthers will come into Thursday night's matchup having already defeated LA Tech earlier in the season. FIU won 3-1 at Lime Court at FIU Arena versus the Lady Techsters in late October. The Panthers have won six of their last seven meeting with LA Tech. They look to continue the trend.

Scouting Charlotte: The 49ers are coming off a five-set loss to Southern Miss on Sunday. Charlotte currently sit 10th in the C-USA standings with a conference record of 5-9 (8-17 overall). The Panthers defeated Charlotte earlier this year by a score of 3-0. FIU is 5-1 versus Charlotte in their last six games.

The Panthers rank No.1 in C-USA in blocks and are the sixth-best blocking team in FIU history. Their level of productivity has not been seen since 1993.

The Panthers currently sit in the seventh spot in the C-USA standings and controls its own destiny. Although the Panthers are riding a four-game losing streak, they are heavy favorites to defeat both LA Tech and Charlotte to close out the season. If they win out, the Panthers will clinch a spot in the 2015 C-USA Conference Championship Tournament. The Panthers could be seeded as high as sixth in the tournament.
