@FIUBaseball Falls to Bethune-Cookman, 3-2, in 10 Innings

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 24, 2015) – Bethune-Cookman scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning to push past FIU, 3-2, Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach.

Wildcats right fielder Jordan Robinson singled to center off Brandon Diaz (0-1) to lead off the bottom of the 10th. After a hit by pitch and a sacrifice bunt, Robinson scored on the sac fly off the bat of Clay Middleton. FIU dropped to 11-14 on the season. B-CU improved to 7-20. Wildcats right-hander Michael Austin (1-1) recorded the win in relief.

FIU built a 2-0 lead earlier in the game on RBI hits by Edwin Rios. In the top of the first inning, Jack Schaaf led off the game with a walk and scored on Rios's run-scoring double down the right field line. Brian Portelli singled with one out in the third inning and came around to score on Rios's triple in the right center field gap.

B-CU scored single runs in the third and eighth innings to tie the score.

Rios was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Portelli went 2-for-4. FIU reliever Williams Durruthy pitched three and two-thirds scoreless innings in relief of starter Gianni Zayas, who went three innings.
