Junior (2014): Played in 40 games, started 28 games mostly as the designated hitter...Hit .350 with 2 home runs and 11 RBI, including 4 doubles and a triple...Had a .412 on-base percentage, good for third on the team...Got first FIU hit at South Florida (Mar. 12), went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI and a double in the FIU win...Was 2 for 4 against Rice (Mar. 15), was 4 for 6 against the Bulls in two games...Was 1 for 1 with a home run and two RBI against Marshall (Mar. 23)...Had a 4 for 4 game against Florida Atlantic (Apr. 18)...Was 3 for 4 against St. Peter's (Apr. 25) and 2 for 3 against the Peacocks (Apr. 26)...Hit his second home run of the season at East Carolina (May 2)...Went 5 for 11 with three RBI in a three-game series against Middle Tennessee (May 9-11)...Was 2 for 3 at Tulane (May 15)...Went 3 for 3 against Rice (May 21) at the Conference USA Tournament. 

Prior to FIU: Spent his previous two seasons playing at Grand Rapids Community College for Mike Cupples…Hit .384 with one home run and 44 RBI during his freshman season…Followed that up with a .325 average during his sophomore campaign with three home runs and 34 RBI…Was a .562 hitter at Troy High School in Birmingham, Mich. where he was an All-State, All-Conference, All-District and All-County selection…Was also recruited by Grand Valley State.

Personal: Was born on May 24, 1993 in Birmingham, Mich…Is the son of Anthony and Linda Portelli…Has an older brother and sister, Kevin and Lisa…Plans on majoring in Physical Education at FIU.
